DESCRIPTION
With rising interior enforcement, heightened criminalization, and unlawful expulsions, immigrant- and refugee-serving organizations are rising to meet the moment by pushing back against xenophobic policies that seek to harm immigrant communities and weaken democratic norms and civil liberties for all.
In this rapidly changing policy landscape, GCIR will hold a community call to facilitate joint sensemaking, funder mobilization, and collective action. This meeting will be open to GCIR members and non-members alike who want to stay up to date on philanthropic efforts to defend immigrants and refugees and who would like to come together with peers to learn and connect across geographies. During this call, we will host a panel conversation followed by breakout sessions on:
-
rapid response and deportation defense.
-
litigation.
-
organizational safety and security.
Participants should come to this session prepared to learn and share details about their work. GCIR is considering the possibility of holding more community calls in the future, and we invite you to join us as we explore this new meeting format.
