Black Lives Matter

Justice. Belonging. Humanity. Courage. Solidarity.

Grounded in these values that drive our mission, GCIR condemns racism and racial terror. We condemn the racism and racial terror that have oppressed and brutalized African Americans for more than 400 years. We condemn the racism and racial terror that most recently took the lives of George Floyd, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. We condemn the racism and racial terror that pervade law enforcement and the criminal justice system.

In this painful moment and in the face of injustices still to be rectified, GCIR stands in steadfast solidarity with our Black brothers and sisters as an ally in the fight for racial justice. We deepen our commitment to end the dehumanization, demonization, and criminalization of people of color. We double down to combat anti-Black racism in immigrant communities, the immigrant justice movement, and philanthropy. And, like protesters across the country, we demand justice, accountability, and reparation. Only when Black lives truly matter will we achieve a world where everyone thrives, regardless of who they are, where they were born, or the color of their skin.

Consider what your foundation can do and act swiftly with courage and conviction. Begin today by supporting groups addressing urgent needs and working to dismantle structural racism.
