This five-page resource offers philanthropy guidance on responding to the September 5th termination and phasing out of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The brief provides an overview of DACA and its impact, the implications of its rescission, and a demographic profile of the individuals affected. It also offers initial recommendations for immediate funder response, including legal services, health and mental health, and educational and livelihood support. Use this resource to inform your foundation’s grantmaking strategy to address the immediate impact of DACA’s termination on nearly 800,000 vulnerable immigrants and their families across the country. This brief reflects our understanding of the situation as of the publication date. Given the fluid policy context, GCIR will be monitoring developments and updating the contents of the brief as needed.
