Description

The last couple months have seen several profound changes in state and federal immigration policy: Texas’ SB4 bill was partially enjoined. The White House issued a new travel ban that expands to include several new countries. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals was cancelled. Temporary protected status was withdrawn for citizens of Sudan, but was extended 18 months for citizens of South Sudan. The repercussions of these shifts and others are already being felt—and will continue in the weeks and months to come to impact our nation, particularly immigrant communities and communities of color. This call will review the range of recent policy developments, consider what further changes the coming weeks and months may bring, and help participants understand the impact in their communities and beyond. The call will also include an in-depth update about policy changes impacting unaccompanied children.
