Please contribute to a relief fund for immigrants in the Rio Grande Valley who are unemployed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and who urgently need to meet certain obligations (rent, utility bills, mortgage loans, etc). A LUPE committee will evaluate each application and give priority to LUPE members who are facing critical situations. Forty percent of LUPE members are undocumented. El Valle has always had an extremely high poverty rate; the coronavirus is increasing the poverty levels. At present, there are no other organizations in the region raising money to distribute to those who are ineligible to receive stimulus checks or benefits. Thousands of undocumented persons reside En El Valle de Rio Grande. The fund will provide grants of up to $200 to immigrants in the Rio Grande Valley who have lost all or part of their income due to the coronavirus pandemic.
