Session Description:
Reflexive pro-immigrant narratives often cite economic contributions as a key rationale for welcoming, supporting, and uplifting immigrant communities. What then for immigrants who do not fit traditional conceptions of labor market participation – or for those who do indeed toil in the economy, but in underrepresented or exploitative conditions? In this session, panelists will explore with the audience issues such as family reunification-based immigration policy, inclusion and potential labor market barriers for immigrants living with a disability, and protections and rights for sex workers.
