Plenary: Immigrants, Intersectionality, and the Path Forward

Intersectionality has moved beyond the academic sphere to become a central guiding principle for social movements. In an era of deep polarization, its original purpose—to address structural barriers and advance justice and equity for all—has been obscured. This plenary will examine the relationship between immigrant rights and intersectionality, how the immigrant movement has worked in concert with other social justice movements, and what an intersectional path forward looks like at a time when our pluralistic democracy is being challenged.
