​An organizer and human rights activist turned full-time stand-up comedian, Hari Kondabolu's hilarious takes on history and contemporary social issues have earned him appearances on The David Letterman Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan O'Brien's CONAN, Comedy Central Presents, and the BBC.


Actor Bambadjan Bamba

Actor and filmmaker Bambadjan Bamba, who stars in NBC's The Good Place and will be in the upcoming Marvel film Black Panther, recently revealed he is undocumented and a recipient of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. His coming out was widely covered, including in the Los Angeles Times, NPR, and ABCNews, as well as in international outlets such as the Daily Mail.


Singer Social-Activist Diana Gameros

 San Francisco Bay Area musician Diana Gameros is a former undocumented immigrant whose enchanting music is infused with stories from her migration journey, her native Ciudad Juárez, and political topics like Arizona's SB1070. Her music has been featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition, NPR’s Alt. Latino, Public Radio International's The World and PBS Newshour.



Photographer Veronica Gabriela Cardenas

Verónica Gabriela Cárdenas is a documentary photographer based in Texas' Rio Grande Valley. Migration issues are a recurring theme in her work, which has been shown at venues ranging from the United Nations to the Festival of International Books and Arts and featured in news outlets such as El Mundo, Splinter News, and the Texas Observer.


Cárdenas' series, Traveling Soles, from which the below photo is taken, will be on display at #GCIR2018


Traveling Soles is a series that invites the audience to learn about the story behind some of the shoes that belonged to refugees who crossed borders fleeing from violence or simply to have a better life. These pairs of shoes are part of these images representing the refugees that arrived at respite centers and in other places in the journey.
