Immigration, Integration and Aging: How Funders Are Meeting the Challenge
A summary of the session is available for download here.
Demographic changes have swept the country, with immigrants from around the globe resettling in both new and traditional gateway communities. While philanthropic attention thus far has focused primarily on the needs of immigrant children and parents, foundations are increasingly interested in elder immigrants and their concerns, including issues of long-term care, isolation, and empowerment. Grantmakers, in a rich and provocative discussion, will examine some innovative funding strategies as they identify, discuss, and analyze some of the key challenges facing the aging field in working with this linguistically and culturally diverse population.
